Marcelo Bielsa heaps praise on summer signing Ben White

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has hailed the performances of defender Ben White since his loan move from Brighton & Hove Albion this summer. The 21-year-old has been a solid presence at the heart of the defence this season and he has helped the club keep five clean sheet from the opening 11 league games.

Speaking in a press conference, Bielsa hailed White as a great player and said that he does not making any mistakes even when he decides to take risks, he told: “He’s a great player. He takes risks and he doesn’t make mistakes. That’s the most difficult thing in football. It’s easy when you take risks. It’s normal to make mistakes when you take risks. The best players risk and don’t make mistakes. Everything seems White is in this band.”

Leeds made a strong beginning to the Championship campaign but they have recently gone off the boil with two defeats from the past three games. As a result, they have dropped off from the top of the standings and they are currently fifth with a two-point deficit over West Bromwich Albion, who are currently the new league leaders.

Leeds return from the international break with a home game against Birmingham City and they should fancy picking up maximum points. The west Yorkshire outfit surprisingly don’t have the best of records against Birmingham with just one victory from the past five home meetings but Bielsa will nonetheless want a strong reaction from the players as they seek to remain in contention for the automatic promotion places.

Meanwhile, Bielsa has a big decision to make on the striker’s role with Patrick Bamford going through a lean patch. The former Chelsea graduate has failed to score in the past six matches for Leeds and it remains to be seen whether on-loan striker Eddie Nketiah is favoured ahead of him for the Blues clash. The Arsenal forward has been a regular off the bench but he has scored the same number of goals (four) as Bamford this term.
