Leeds United keen on signing Patrick Erras
Leeds United are looking forward to signing Nurnberg midfielder Patrick Erras. They have been keen on signing him but the deal comes with the condition of whether Leeds will be promoted in this season or not. Leeds had discussions with the player and is been proceeding with the process.
Erras was the main interest of Newcastle United in the last transfer window and his current contract with Nurnberg will come to an end at this year. With the contract ready to end, many of the English clubs have shown interest to him. Brentford, Blackburn Rovers, and Bristol City have shown interest on the player and has discussions with him.
Patrick spent his youth career in SV Raigering from the age of five and he stayed there until 2007. Later on, he was transferred to Nurnberg FC where he is currently playing. Erras made his debut on the first team on 2015 for a match against Greuther Furth. He in this season for Nurnberg has appeared in 18 matches and have scored twice for the club.
Leeds will be determining the targets based on whether they will secure promotion to the Premier League or not. With the advent of coronavirus, the club has suffered many financial constraints and the clubs will be looking forward to signing free transfer as they are more financially safe ones.
Leeds have suffered from the suspension of football activity due to COVID 19 pandemic. They were planning to return to Premier League after 16 years of waiting. But after the suspension, they have had major drawbacks. They are very much desperate for the promotion and they are the currently leading team of Championship table.
Leeds are one point ahead of West Brom and seven points ahead of third positioned Fulham. Their first match after the suspension of football activity is against Cardiff City on June 21.
Bent fancies Bamford to Stay with Leeds
Football Insider pundit Darren Bent has backed Patrick Bamford to remain with Leeds United for the next five years at the least, having cemented his spot as the first-choice striker under Marcelo Bielsa. The former Chelsea graduate has netted only 13 goals from 36 outings this term but he has been a regular up front under Bielsa, who has been impressed with his tireless workrate.
As a result, Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah was barely able to make the starting XI during the first half of the season and he was eventually recalled by the north London giants. Jean-Kevin Augustin arrived on loan from AS Monaco in January to compete for the centre-forward position but he has suffered the same fate and has managed less than an hour’s action in the league.
