LEES SIGNS FOR WARNOCK

Leeds United defender Tom Lees has said that manager Neil Warnock was one of the main reasons for him to sign a contract extension with the club. Tom Lees has been linked with a move elsewhere from Leeds United in the last couple of months, but with the arrival of former QPR manager Neil Warnock has persuaded him to stay at the club.

The 21-year-old recently signed a four-year contract that will see his stay at Elland Road being extended. Tom Lees had three more years remaining on his current contract prior to signing this new deal.

He has also said that Neil Warnock convinced him to stay at the club, while he has also expressed his confidence that he will be able to start many matches for the club next season. Tom Lees could come extremely close to leaving the club after making a huge impression on the scouts this season.

It is ironical considering that he signed a new three-year deal only in September. Neil Warnock’s arrival could not prevent Leeds United from slipping out from the race for the play-offs. However, they are expected to strengthen a lot in the summer, while they are also going to keep a number of players like Tom Lees.

“The way that he is speaking and the things that he is saying about going forward, I liked what I heard – he told me I could be the next Jack Wilshere – so I am now looking forward to seeing how it progresses and I am looking forward to next season. It is nice to be offered a new deal and I cannot thank the manager enough. He has been a really big influence in the time that he has been at the club. He has only been here a short time but I feel like I have learnt a lot,” said Lees.

WARNOCK WANTS CHANGE

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has said that he will be making extensive changes to the team in the summer in order to make the club more competitive when it comes to their aim of achieving promotion to the Premier league next season. Leeds United failed to make it into the play-offs this season after a disappointing end to the season. Neil Warnock was appointed in the place of Simon Grayson, as the board at Leeds United lost patience in the latter efforts to take Leeds United to the top flight of English football. Even though Warnock arrived at a perfect time, he was not able to get Leeds to the play-offs.

Just as the Championship season has concluded, Warnock has said that he will be having a massive job in the summer when it comes to rebuilding the team. Warnock has said that the team demands three things – pace, power, and energy. The former QPR manager also said that the current squad lacks in the following things, which has called for extensive changes in the summer. Leeds were defeated in the final Championship game of the season against Leicester City. The 2-1 defeat meant that the club had suffered 11 home defeats throughout the season.

“I know the players I want and I’ve already got one in line who I’m pleased with. I’ve got to find the sort of players who will revel here – who’ll enjoy games at Elland Road like I do on the bench. I need to be able to rely on people and that’s not been the case. It’s almost like the fans have put their eggs in one basket with me. It’s like they trust me and that’s a fabulous feeling to have,” Warnock said after the Leicester City match. Leeds finished the season in the 14th position.

CANNOT WAIT

Former QPR manager Neil Warnock has said that he cannot wait for the end of the season after his Leeds United side suffered yet another defeat in the Championship. Leeds United were targeting promotion this season, but after suffering a 2-0 loss at the hands of Derby it looks unlikely that they will finish in the play-offs position.

This is the 10th home defeat of the season for Leeds United and Neil Warnock admitted after the match that he will make a lot of changes in the summer in order to make the team competitive. Neil Warnock arrived at Leeds united after Simon Grayson was sacked in January.

A lot was expected of him, but they have failed to materialise after a poor run of form has seen them reside in the 12th position in the table. They were recently defeated a 2-0 by Reading only a few days ago. Now, Neil Warnock has admitted that the team it was a number of changes both in terms of the players and the tactics designed to accommodate the players. Michael Brown certainly did not help things for Neil Warnock, as he got himself sent off in the 26th minute after a rash challenge, which certainly did not spoil the reputation of the club.
