Leeds United go searching for their first victory in the FA Cup in over five years this evening when they take on Northampton Town at Sixfields in their televised first round replay. With just over 48 hours having passed since Saturday's 'mugging' by neighbours Huddersfield Town, the clash cannot come quickly enough, allowing the players an immediate chance for redemption.
Although the Whites haven't got the results their performances have deserved over the last three matches the team have, in spells played some excellent football. Boss Gary McAllister hinted at changes to his side after again conceding sloppy goals at the weekend, and will be looking for a faultless defensive display as they search for a clean sheet which could set them up for an away tie at Blue Square Premier's Histon in round two.
The balance of pressure has now switched to the hosts, and the onus will be on the Cobblers to take the initiative and go looking for the victory. However, expect Leeds to put up and improved defensive display and pick off Northampton, finally giving the supporters some much needed FA Cup cheer.
