Crewe cut down to size by Leeds

Leeds United stormed to a 5-2 victory over Crewe Alexandra at Elland Road this afternoon. After committing himself to the club for another 4 years local lad Fabian Delph opened the scoring with a stunning strike on 26 minutes.

It was all United and just 10 minutes later the advantage was doubled when Alan Sheehan smashed in a screamer from fully 30 yards. Within 4 minutes of the restart Jonathan Douglas joined the party adding a belter of his own to well and truly cut Crewe down to size.

Then on 67 minutes Jermaine Beckford headed his eighth goal of the campaign following good work by substitute Andy Robinson. With 8 minutes remaining Robinson added a long-range effort of his own to make it 5-0.

But an amazing game had even more drama in added time. Defender Lubomir Michalik was sent for an early bath after receiving his second yellow card. Alexandra then hit 2 quick-fire goals in the space of as many minutes through Zola and Bopp to add some degree of respectability to the scoreline after a hugely entertaining encounter.
